Why Lifestyle Photography Might Be Exactly What You’ve Been Looking For

If you've ever scrolled through perfectly posed family photos and thought, “That doesn’t feel like us,” you’re not alone — and you're in the right place.

I’m Kimberley, a lifestyle photographer based near Childers, QLD, and my sessions look a little different. They’re barefoot on the beach. They’re cuddles at home. They’re quiet moments between chaos, laughter between siblings, and the tiniest gestures that say the most.

Lifestyle photography is about connection — not perfection.

There are no stiff poses here. I’ll never ask you to say cheese or hold a smile for minutes on end. Instead, I create space for you and your family to just be. I guide gently when needed, but mostly I observe — capturing the beautiful way your little one reaches for your hand or how your eyes light up when you laugh together.

Because those are the moments you’ll want to remember.

And those are the ones that mean the most.

Why I Do What I Do

Photography started as a personal outlet — a creative escape from the pressure of daily life. It helped me through stressful times, and before long, it became a passion. I spent years behind a desk in creative roles, from publishing magazines to designing flyers. I’ve studied counselling, worked in people-focused jobs, and volunteered with Wildcare (where I even won an award for Best Wildlife Photo!).

All of those experiences shape the way I photograph today. I don’t just see families — I see stories. Emotions. Personalities. I still remember the faces from every shoot.

And when I leave a session on a high, music up, heart full — I know I’ve done something meaningful.

What to Expect in a Session

Expect to be yourselves. Wear what feels comfortable (you don’t have to stick to neutrals!). Be prepared to laugh, hug, chase your kids, and relax. The best photos happen when you stop worrying about the camera and start focusing on each other.

You can choose a location that means something to you — your home, a favourite park, the beach, a cosy local café. When you're somewhere familiar, the connection naturally shines through.

Let’s Create Something That Feels Like You

If you're looking for more than just a photo — if you want something real, personal, and beautifully you — then lifestyle photography might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
